FAQs

  • My fee for individual online sessions is £60. Each session lasts 50 minutes. If you are considering working with me online, please be aware you need a private, safe space for our sessions.

  • I work privately on Fridays and some weekday afternoons. Please contact me to discuss my availability.

  • Working online can make therapy accessible and convenient for you. If you are considering working with me online, please be aware you need a private, safe space for our sessions. I am based in County Durham in North East England and offer sessions to adults (18+) across the UK.

  • Our first session together will be an assessment. Together we will explore what life has been like for you up to now. Our assessment session allows me to gain a better understanding of how we can best work together, and for you to decide if I’m the right person to support you.

  • Duration of therapy is as unique as each client. Some people may feel they only need shorter term support for circumstantial disruptions to their lives, others may wish to make significant changes and do deeper therapeutic work that can take years. Early on in our work we will explore your therapeutic goals and how long you would like to work together. I will provide realistic expectations about how long this might take.

  • Weekly sessions are recommended. Consistency is important to establish a strong therapeutic relationship. This also allows you to get the most out of the work and achieve your goals in a timely manner.

  • I understand that making the decision to speak to someone about your worries can be difficult, and I want you to know that your privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me.

I can only break confidentiality when:

You ask me to. For example, you wish to be referred to another service and we agree together what personal information I have permission to share.

I have reason to believe you are in serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

I have reason to believe that a serious criminal offence has been committed by you or against you.

In extreme cases, where I am legally compelled by a court of law.

As all psychotherapists are, I am required to be in external supervision to regulate my practice, and I will take relevant issues from sessions to my supervisor. In supervision your identity is protected, and you will always remain anonymous.

  • I do not offer crisis support.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or feel you can no longer keep yourself safe, please call the TEWV NHS Crisis Team if you are based in County Durham or Darlington on 08000 516 171. If you are based in Tyne and Wear call the CNTW NHS Crisis Team on 0303 123 1146, or call 999 if you are an immediate danger to yourself.

All of these services offer 24 hour support.
